On September 19, the annual GSH Past Presidents’ Luncheon brought together the current GSH president René Mott, president-elect Rob Stewart, and 15 past presidents for an afternoon of reflection and forward thinking. The gathering celebrated the organization’s legacy while focusing on the road ahead. We had good attendance this year, relatively speaking, with 70 Shooters, plus 5 for BBQ Lunch. Very fun lunch with Hickory Hollow BBQ and plenty of Yuengling beer on hand. (We promise to have more Amber Lager next year.) It was good networking and fun to get caught up with old friends and new.

On May 6-8, 2025, the Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH) successfully hosted the inaugural Geophysics Academy training event at the Oxy Conference Center in Houston, Texas. The academy featured three days of modular four-hour courses led by world-renowned geoscientists. These courses covered a broad spectrum of topics, including advanced depth imaging, 4D seismic value streams, geomechanical applications, full waveform inversion, and many more.
