The Geophysical Society of Houston Fall Forum 2025 was held on Oct 16. Titled “From Waveforms to Insights – Latest Developments in Processing, Inversion and Artificial Intelligence”, the workshop covered a range of topics from OBN to FWI and onto Seismic Inversion / Artificial Intelligence. There were renowned speakers from major oil companies, mid-size upstream companies, seismic vendors, and technology leaders.

The workshop was well attended with more than 80 participants. We received great feedback at the end of the session.

Highlights:

  1. Great line-up of speakers, especially the first speaker from BP (Ganyuan) and the last speaker from Chevron (Maisha). The audience remained engaged throughout the workshop from beginning to end.

  2. Panel discussion was split into two parts – one focusing on processing and inversion, and the second focusing on Artificial Intelligence. It was a good way to have a focused dialog on each of these topics.

  3. A good mix of presenters/panelists from industry and academia (adjunct) helped maintain a steady rhythm to the workshop.

  4. The Fall Forum was held at the SLB Q Auditorium (thank you Schlumberger), with a post-workshop Happy Hour at Rio Ranch. A great facility with convenient location.

  5. A physical timer helped to keep the speakers’ presentations limited to their stipulated time. Many thanks to the volunteers who helped keep the program moving along.

  6. Everybody enjoyed lunch and ability to socialize.
