On October 5th, The University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology TexNet-CISR (Center for Integrated Seismicity Research) team delivered an informative workshop detailing the history, advancing science and economic and industrial impact of Induced Seismicity. The workshop was hosted by the Geophysical Society of Houston at a new venue, the Studio Movie Grill at Houston’s City Center (I10 and beltway 8).
Peter Hennings, Dr. Alexandros Savvaidis and Dr. J-P Nicot instructed and enlightened the crowd during their fantastic workshop. The comprehensive and highly informative day-long course provided the attendees with information on the current state of earthquake monitoring, seismologic analysis, geological characterization, and mechanistic analysis. Following the workshop the audience provided reviews praising the value of the workshop, chronicling the benefits the course will provide to their own industry and academic achievements.
The Studio Movie Grill is a new venue for the GSH. The excellent location allows workshops to be presented with the benefit of a very big screen and excellent acoustics. The new venue is an exciting development for the GSH, providing an auditorium capable of comfortably seating large audiences while offering dining options and social areas delivering an exceptional showcase for detailed presentations. The GSH is actively looking for motivated instructors and presenters to highlight their technical presentations at this great venue for future seminars.
