Announcing the Bob Sheriff Library
The GSH Museum collection, started in 1960 has always included vintage geophysical books in addition to the inventory of geoscience related vintage instruments. In 2013 Dr. Bob Sheriff donated his personal library of books, papers, journals, and materials to the GSH. This donation greatly expanded the range and extent of our collection of geoscience publications and includes many of the awards, publications, and items from Dr. Sheriff’s global travels and outstanding career

The Inaugural Geophysics Academy 2025: A Groundbreaking Success in Houston
On May 6-8, 2025, the Geophysical Society of Houston (GSH) successfully hosted the inaugural Geophysics Academy training event at the Oxy Conference Center in Houston, Texas. The academy featured three days of modular four-hour courses led by world-renowned geoscientists. These courses covered a broad spectrum of topics, including advanced depth imaging, 4D seismic value streams, geomechanical applications, full waveform inversion, and many more.
