Norman Neidel - a former president and honorary member of the GSH has passed away

Dr. Norman Neidell

Norman Neidel, a former president and honorary member of the Geophysical Society of Houston in 1984, died on February 27, 2025. In addition, Dr. Neidel belonged to the SEG, AAPG, and SPE professional associations.


After starting his formal education at London's Imperial College, he went on to Brown for graduate work and Cambridge for his PhD. Norman was well-known as a research scientist, consultant, entrepreneur, adjunct professor, renowned lecturer, author, expert witness, and someone who consistently sought out new geophysical technologies.

Celebration of Life for Norman will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2pm to 5pm at Amalfi Restaurant, Room 140, 6100 Westheimer Rd. Houston, Texas.
